I was inspired by my friend Debrina of Spark Your Imagaination to risk baring your "artist all" and give a peek into the reality of what your studio "really looks like" on any given creative day! She was given the challenge by Julie Molina on her blog. So it feels like some daring fun to reveal the mess...if not a tad vulnerable to give you a peek into my creating space!! Lets just say this would not be a good day to have company coming for dinner as I took over our dining room and claimed it as a studio when we moved in this house almost three years ago. After years of being in corners of the house, taking over kitchen tables or out with the dog in the cold garage, I feel blessed to have this humble room as my artistic sanctuary! So needless to say my idealistic dream of having wonderfully prepared meals ready for the family served at a beautifully set dining table every night haven't happened too often. I always just give my hubby puppy dog eyes and say, "But honey...under all that mess on the table is a new piece of art just waiting to be discovered...if I clean it all up I might never find it!". Only because of the beautiful shelves he built for me does the rest of the studio stay relatively decent...but that table...well...my only excuse is...I am an artist!
I love peering into the places where other artists create. Its cool to visualize them in their studios or creative corners tinkering with all their treasures. So often on the internet we can all feel a bit faceless and untouchable. Seeing what surrounds an artist as they create gives us a small window into who they are. So this is a little bit of me...where I go to work every day...where I lose myself and play...the quiet where I dream and nurture my healing heart....

Lani, how exiciting to get a peek into your world!!! You have such a magical space to create! I am in awe of all your rubber stamps on that beautiful shelf!!! I'm so happy you decided to take the challenge. It was kind of a freeing experience for me being that I'm a very private person so it really so it went way outside my comfort zone! Thank you so much for letting me have a peek inside! By the way, is that other chair for me to come and create with you? haha..
Love!!!
Debrina
Woo hoo! I love these pictures! I can wander around in your studio for hours, looking at all the great stuff! It's not really a mess at all, it's just got a lot of stuff in it!
Your husband sounds like an awesome guy, to not only NOT give you grief about taking over the dining room, but also building you those amazing shelves.
Oh and I really love that purple chest of drawers! So so cool!
I am impressed by the fact that you have plenty of surfaces to display decorative items. I am completely out of surfaces. I really need to organize better. Yeesh!
Thank you for posting this and for commenting on my blog so I could find you!
Dearest Lani
I am so happy to have find your blog! Your studio is exactly like your art, beautiful, inspiring, a grace to the eyes and to the heart.
My dear, I am sorry to tell you I am very much ill. I am not working and I miss my art very much. So I am happy to look at work and read your words .They give my heart a soothing balm.
I don't know when I will be doing art again since the chemotherapy weakens me very much but I would like to invite you to see my previous works at my blog.
